Investment Opportunities in Iran’s Waste Management Sector

Iran is currently facing significant challenges in its waste management sector, with around 20 million tons of solid waste generated annually. This equates to about 600-700 grams per person per day. Despite the large volume of waste, only 5% is recycled, and merely 2% of the unrecycled waste is hygienically landfilled. The rest is buried without any treatment, presenting a substantial opportunity for investment in waste management technologies and processes.

Furthermore, the country generates 60 million tons of construction waste each year, along with 50,000 tons of greenhouse gases and 10 million cubic meters of leachate from landfills. These figures underscore the urgency for sustainable solutions in managing waste effectively to mitigate environmental impacts.

While 87% of Iranian cities utilize mechanized and semi-mechanized waste collection systems, the cost of waste management remains high, at 28-43 USD per ton. This highlights the need for more efficient and cost-effective strategies in the waste management sector.

Given these pressing challenges and the potential for growth and innovation, participating in IWEX 2025 is crucial for anyone interested in the future of waste management in Iran. Our exhibition provides a platform for showcasing the latest recycling technologies and equipment, fostering collaborations, and sharing insights into the best practices. Join us to be part of the solution and drive forward sustainable change in waste management.
